Challenge
Evolution Recruitment were receiving a high volume of weak CVs from candidates who needed guidance but had nowhere to turn. They wanted to add genuine value to their candidate portal — something that would help applicants put their best foot forward while reducing recruiter back-and-forth.
Solution
I built a fully custom AI CV builder as a WordPress plugin — React 18 + TypeScript frontend, PHP backend with PSR-4 autoloading, powered by DigitalOcean GradientAI. Candidate data is stored in a remote POPIA-compliant South African-hosted MySQL database. A conversational chatbot walks each candidate through their CV section by section, in plain language.
Outcome
Candidates actively use the tool as part of their application process. Recruiters report reduced back-and-forth with applicants, and the feature has received consistent positive feedback as a value-add that sets Evolution apart from other agencies.
